About Me
Hello everyone. My name is Darrin Johnson and I have been actively trading equity options and emini futures contracts since the spring of 2007. I primarily focus on S&P, Nasdaq, and Russell emini contracts(futures) and various equity cash index and sector etf’s(options). My technical approach to markets is one based on the research I’ve done in back-testing, empirical academic case studies, and what I’ve seen as an independent trader. Over the years, I have adopted a much more (dare I say) scientific approach to the art of trading. Long gone are the days of swinging for homeruns and dreams of quadrupling my account in a month. Experiences have taught me that aiming for consistent moderately profitable returns will yield a smaller probability risk to blowing up a capital account; thus, the real HOLY GRAIL. I don’t follow gurus or search for the hottest system available. Every strategy that I now employ, whether its selling option premium, volatility arbitrage, swing trading stocks, or intraday hit and run trades are all strategies that I have back-tested and in some cases forward-tested to consistently generate a statistical edge. Consequently, I am very comfortable with the risk associated with my style of trading.
Since 2007, I have also started a transportation business, taken a break from trading when the demands of a “brick and mortar” business became overwhelming, and come back to trading again. I have had some mild successes and failures as well, which I will write about in hopes of imparting some experiential wisdom to readers along the way.
At the beginning of the 2011, I officially started working for a small hedge fund called THE BLUE MAX GROUP LLC. My posts will shed some insight into what my macro economic worldview is at the moment, trade ideas, as well as technical charts with in depth analysis.
One of my primary goals of this blog will be to achieve my own “Creative Flow”
